“Growing up the middle child, my older sibling being a girl, my wardrobe consisted mostly of hand-me-downs. When this is your main source of clothes, you wear what you get. You don’t get to choose the color or style, you just wear it. Now, I am not saying this to complain – I am grateful I had clothes to wear and I’m pretty sure it didn’t bother me back then, but it put me in a life long habit of ‘just wearing clothes’.
Fast forward to life in my mid-thirties. I’m a wife, mom and still “just wearing clothes”. Although I do believe by this time I had a better sense of what I liked, what looked good on me and what didn’t, I still wore hand me downs (from loving sister-in-laws and mother-in-laws) and very rarely shopped for new clothes.
This is when having friends who are stylists come in handy. Especially those that live in another state, but love to visit where you live AND shop at the mall in your hometown.A few years ago, Lauryn and her mom were visiting my beautiful home state of Colorado, when she offered to spend some time with me at the mall helping me with the art of shopping for new clothes. I was excited to have someone show me the ropes, but a little uneasy to possibly hear that my sense of style was all wrong. Although the latter didn’t happen completely, Lauryn was able to show me how to choose designs and fabrics that flattered my body type (you know, high hips, long legs and short torso) and also allowed me to feel more confident when I got dressed in the morning.

Who knew that how you tie the belt on a long cardigan mattered? I always kept it open and tied the belt in the back to avoid looking frumpy. Or how wearing a shirt a certain length can elongate your torso and not make your body look so, well, non-uniform? I didn’t. I also didn’t realize that bright red skinny jeans from GAP were appropriate for moms! You know what-they are!!!

Having Lauryn take the time to go from store to store with me, observing as I tried on stacks and stacks of clothes was extremely refreshing! Why? I have always enjoyed fashion and learned to sew at a young age. I even designed and sewed my own wedding gown, the bridesmaid’s dresses and my mother’s outfit for my wedding back in 2000. Needless to say, once you are married and become a mom, sometimes you let yourself get into a fashion rut. You’re busy taking care of the home, handling and caring for babies and kids that do many things that ruin your clothes – so you just go for simple and casual. I was so glad to get a little boost from Lauryn to get out there and be bold again. Wear bright colors! Wear white (gasp)! Walk tall and be confident. Can all this happen by choosing clothes that fit right, are the right color and flatter your body style? Absolutely! When you know that you look good, that brings out a confidence that wasn’t there before. You don’t walk around slouched and unsure – you walk with your head high, a smile on your face and vibrant confidence! I’m proud to say that since my day at the mall with Lauryn, I have stepped up my game in the fashion department. I went through my closets and pulled out everything that did not make me smile when I looked at it and thought of wearing it. I scaled down to those things that I truly loved and felt confident wearing. I’m more aware when I shop and don’t just buy stuff to buy it. I also no longer just wear something because it was given to me. I make sure it’s “right” for me. I buy bold, I buy white, I buy cardigans with belts and I tie them with pride knowing that I don’t look frumpy, instead I look polished. You may not think you need a stylists and I guess in reality, none of us ‘need’ one, but the investment you make into having an expert show you how to do it right will pay off for the rest of your life. Not to mention having someone who is passionate about doing this, like Lauryn – that makes all the difference in the world. You won’t waste money buying clothes you’ll never wear or that you won’t be happy wearing. You’ll be able to dress for everyday life or special occasions with confidence. You’ll learn how to pair and mix and match, which means less money on buying unnecessary items. The best part for me? Getting out of my rut and living again in the area of fashion. There’s no need to get stuck with a “que sera sera” attitude when it comes to dressing – something you do everyday and will do everyday for the rest of your life. I have Lauryn to thank for turning this simply dressed wife and mom into someone who values the art of fashion and the art of wearing clothes again! If you ever have the opportunity to work with Lauryn, jump at the change. Seriously, getting dressed every morning will never be the same.”

Back in August I gave Lauryn the task of helping me prepare for a wedding in September in New York. I had to pack 4 days in a carry on. Oh and I had $200.
We met at Target at 9 am and by 11:30am I had a cocktail dress and shoes, jewelry, travel bag, pants and shirts that were all interchangeable to make 3 different outfits. In my budget and looked so cute!!!
Thank You so much Lauryn for helping me look stylish in he Big Apple 😉

I had been pretty frustrated with how tops looked on me in pictures, even when I lost weight. After doing some research I took my messurements and realized I am “apple” shape.  I had no idea what that meant!  Even after searching tops for my shape on Pinterest I still couldn’t get a clear idea of what cuts and styles I should be wearing.  I’m so glad I asked Lauryn for some guidance!  We had an email consultation. Not only did she give me a list of different styles that would compliment my shape, but she sent me links as examples; brands and stores that would suit me.
It finally clicked for me! Now when I see a blouse or shirt in a store I know if I should even try it on based on the shirt’s shape – I can’t begin to tell you how helpful and freeing that is!  I love the confidence I have in shopping for myself now!

I met Lauryn through a mutual friend at just the right time, literally! As you grow, things change; style included.  I was looking for change, specifically in my wardrobe but I didn’t know where or how to start. I asked Lauryn if she would style me and she did just that and beyond! Not only did she help me to find all the right stuff but she also helped me to find all the right prices! I not only learned about style and what’s right/best for me but I learned what to look for and some tips to keep in mind while shopping. Being styled by Lauryn was an amazing experience and definitely worth the investment. If you’re looking to update your wardrobe or need some help with your style, she’s definitely your go-to girl. You will not be disappointed! 😉

Lauryn is a one of a kind stylist.  When she helped me, I had a very small budget and wanted some updated looks in my wardrobe.  Lauryn showed me that I can update my wardrobe on any budget.  She didn’t push me into purchases I could not afford.  She repurposed my current wardrobe, then helped me shop for a few new pieces to add to my wardrobe.
She came to my house, looked through my closet and came up with outfits that I had never thought of before.  Then, she went shopping with me.  What I love most about Lauryn is that she gently pushed me out of my comfort zone.  I literally followed her around stores (that were in my budget)  while collecting armfuls of clothes!  Some were a bit of a stretch for me, in fact I would have never picked them up on my own.  But she took me to the dressing room and pieced together outfits that fitted my personality to a tee.  I remember telling her, that “this is exactly how I want look!”
Lauryn is a gifted stylist and friend to anyone she meets.  You will not only get an amazing wardrobe, but also a friend and encourager! -HannahBeth
